Configure FTP Client to Access Files


To access files using FileZilla :

  1. You need your ftp account credentials.
  2. An FTP account can be accessed by any ftp client. For this guide we have used the FileZilla FTP client.
  3. Open your FileZilla client (see screenshots below).
  4. Enter your credentials:
    1. Host: YOUR-DOMAIN-NAME (ex: example.com) or YOUR-SERVER-IP-ADDRESS
    2. Username: Enter your FTP account username
    3. Password: Enter your FTP account password
    4. Port: Enter default port 21 unless you manually changed it
  5. After adding the required details, click Quickconnect. This will connect the client to FTP server showing you your files.
  6. You can create, copy, delete, move and paste files here.

To access files using WinSCP :

  1. You need your ftp account credentials.
  2. An FTP account can be accessed by any ftp client. For this guide we have used the WinSCP client.
  3. Open your WinSCP client and click on "New Site" (see screenshots below).
  4. Enter your credentials:
    1. File Protocol: FTP
    2. Encryption: TLS/SSL Explicit encryption
    3. Host name: YOUR-DOMAIN-NAME (ex: example.com) or YOUR-SERVER-IP-ADDRESS
    4. Port number: Enter default port 21 unless you manually changed it
    5. Username: Enter your FTP account username
    6. Password: Enter your FTP account password
  5. After adding the required details, click Login. This will connect the client to FTP server showing you your files.
  6. You can create, copy, delete, move and paste files here.
